We are proud to announce that a first edition of SummerLab: Games &
Decisions The SummerLab 2019 takes place at the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, Warsaw, Poland, from July 8 to July 19, 2019. The focus is on applications of game theory and decision theory to the analysis of the modern economy. SummerLab is aimed at graduate students, young
researchers and undergraduate students interested in game theory. The classes are conducted by scholars from the partnering institutions: SGH Warsaw School of Economics, Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto, and Faculty of Business, Economics and Law, the Queensland

The organising team consists of members of the Department of Business Economics (Collegium of World Economy, SGH Warsaw School of Economics):

Jacek Prokop

Jacek Prokop has been a faculty member at Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) since 1984. As of Sep. 1, 2016, he serves as the Vice Rector for International Relations, and is currently also the head of the Department of Business Economics. He received his PhD in Economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Blacksburg, Virginia, USA) in 1991, and he completed his habilitation at the Warsaw School of Economics in 2002.

From 1991 until 1998 he was a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Management and Strategy at Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University (Evanston, Illinois, USA). From 2000 until 2008, he was a Visiting Professor at Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration in Finland.

His research interests are in the field of industrial organization, microeconomic theory and its applications. He has published his articles in such prominent journals as: Economics Letters, Journal of Economics, The Review of Financial Studies, The Journal of Development Economics, The Japanese Economic Review, The International Journal of Industrial Organization, and Research in Economics. His internationally cited works are on the takeover bidding, and on the problems of cartelization and monopolization of industries.

In addition to his academic work, Jacek Prokop has also been involved in business practice; from 1995 until 1999 he held the position of Principal Consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Washington, DC (USA), and from 2004 until 2015 he served as an independent member of the Supervisory Board of Pekao Pioneer UPC S.A. in Warsaw.

He specialises in Behavioral Economics. He published in Personality and Individual Differences, Behavioural Processes, PLOS ONE, Frontiers in Psychology, Economics and Sociology, among others. Member of the Polish Association of Law and Economics (PSEAP). 

Łukasz Kryśkiewicz

Ph.D. in Economics, Digital Economy Expert

Łukasz Skrok

Ph.D. in Economics (SGH Warsaw School of Economics). He specialises in sports economics and economic analysis of innovativeness. Outside academia, he has been actively involved in fostering several R&D projects, with particular emphasis on Life Sciences. He has an experience in designing and appraising public policies gained in think-tanks and governmental units.




Thanks to financial support by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA), the participants are not required to pay any fee for the participation in the SummerLab: Games & Decisions 2019. Budget accommodation and partial alimentation (three coffee breaks and a lunch on days when classes are held) are also provided free of charge. The participants are expected to cover their travel costs and insurance fees (including health insurance).

The recruitment process is open to all interested, though we expect high-quality applications foremostly from young researchers and students with an interest in topic of the SummerLab. The applications can be only submitted through this webpage.

All submitted applications are going to be assessed by a recruitment committee. Accepted participants are going to be informed by e-mail and asked to confirm their participation in the SummerLab.
